Medical & Trip Cancellation Insurance

Participants in Vistas in Education travel and family stay programs have limited medical insurance. The insurance also provides limited coverage for trip cancellation or interruption. A white brochure describing the travel insurance for programs sponsored by Vistas in Education will be given to students with their pre-departure materials six weeks before departure. If the limit of expenses exceeds the maximum benefits of this supplementary insurance, they will need to file a claim with their own health insurance carrier.

Before their son or daughter travels to France, parents should contact the company that provides their regular medical insurance to find out how their child will be covered. It is the parents' responsibility to make sure that they and their child know the procedure to follow. Insurance carriers will often have a special phone number that can be called for authorization for treatment in a foreign country.

If a student needs to seek medical treatment in France, he/she will ask the teacher for a VIE insurance claim form, which will be provided in the pre-departure materials.

All participants of a VIE travel program are covered under our liability insurance.
