MINNESOTA HOST PROGRAM

Each summer, approximately 100 French teenagers come to Minnesota and live with host families. This opportunity gives them the chance to meet new people, improve their English, experience the “American way of life” and take part in many different activities – all thanks to families like yours!

You can welcome a French student for two to three weeks during July or August. Please see the downloadable Host Family Application for the exact dates for this summer's program.

VIE PREPARATION & ASSISTANCE

VIE will hold orientation meetings in early June for all interested families. Your family will be carefully matched with a French teenager of approximately the same age and similar interests as your son or daughter. At the orientation meeting, you will receive a letter of introduction from your French student so that you can correspond with him/her before the group arrives!

VIE staff will provide you with all the information necessary to make your experience as a host family a successful one. From arrival to departure, VIE Coordinators will be available to answer any questions or assist with any problems that may arise.

HOW TO APPLY

If you are interested in sharing your home with a French student for two to three weeks this summer, please contact VIE as soon as possible! We give priority to families who apply early when we match the French teenagers with American families.
